Despite heightened research interest, the revision of clinical guidelines, and the development of new therapeutic agents, the challenge of achieving effective treatment and significantly improving the quality of life for patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria remains highly relevant. In recent years, data have emerged regarding the clinical efficacy, safety profile, and impact on quality of life of dupilumab in treating adults and children over the age of 6 with chronic spontaneous urticaria.
The aim of the study is to provide an overview and analysis of the results of published research on the use of targeted therapy with dupilumab in patients with insufficient response to antihistamine medications.
Material and methods. To achieve the study's objective, a literature search was conducted within the English- and Russian-language segments of the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, and elibrary.ru databases, using keywords and applying inclusion and exclusion criteria for the period from 2020 to 2026, inclusive.
Results. An analysis of published studies on the use of dupilumab in patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria indicates a high level of efficacy and an adequate safety profile for the drug. Results obtained by various research groups and findings from meta-analyses are consistent and align with one another. Consequently, dupilumab was incorporated into the treatment regimens for chronic spontaneous urticaria outlined in the international guideline on the definition, classification, diagnosis, and management of urticaria published in 2026.
Conclusion. Targeted therapy for chronic spontaneous urticaria with dupilumab allows for personalized and expanded treatment options, resulting in improved clinical symptoms and quality of life in patients refractory to other medications.
