THE EVOLUTION OF PHARMACY IN THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Aim. The goal is to examine the stages of the development of pharmacy as an integral part of the healthcare system in the process of scientific knowledge development.
Material and methods. Comprehensive search for publications in Russian and English in the academic databases eLibrary.ru, PubMed, Google Scholar for 1985-2025. The work uses methods of logical analysis, comparison, and synthesis.
Results.
The analysis of the historical stages of pharmacy evolution showed that pharmacy is at the highest, third stage of development in terms of the empirical aspect of scientific knowledge, but the theoretical aspect of knowledge has only passed from the zero stage to the first stage, and the methodological aspect is in the first stage.
From the point of view of fundamentalization, pharmacy has prospects due to close contacts with the fundamentally developed chemistry, moreover, thanks to modern scientific discoveries in various fields of natural science and information technology, it has become possible to generate fundamentally new approaches to the creation of medicines (nanotechnology, biotechnology, computer modeling). In the evolutionary perspective, medicine as a commodity undergoes changes along with the development of society: from the empirical remedies of antiquity to the highly technological products of the present. In addition, pharmacy is not only the art of manufacturing and preparing medicines, but also the art of providing pharmaceutical services, which has accumulated a wealth of experience over the years in the areas of pharmaceutical counseling and patient information, as well as pre-sales and post-sales services.
Conclusion. The evolution of pharmacy development is a journey from random empirical discoveries to a system that prioritizes proven effectiveness, safety, standardization, and technological excellence. This is what allows modern pharmacy to effectively fulfill its role in reducing disease rates, improving quality of life, and extending lifespan.
